Cleaning Up After A Crime Or Other Trauma

Cleaning Up After A Crime Or Other Trauma

Everyone living in the Milwaukee area hopes for a stable, trouble-free life. But unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen as crimes and other incidents can, and do, occur. And, some crimes can not only permanently affect the victims, but they can also damage property. In these instances, the best thing to do is recover, rebuild and move on. In order for this to happen it is sometimes necessary to call in a restoration company.

Crimes Leave A Mark

While white-collar crimes, such as embezzlement, don’t leave any physical evidence of what transpired, theft and other violent crimes such as assault, murder, and even suicide often can. Tragically, it’s not just a broken door or window and some upended drawers in some cases. Murder, for example, not only leaves a body, often massive fluid loss in the form of blood and viscera that can get on the floors, textiles like rugs, carpet and furniture, walls, and even electronics.

This type of evidence must initially be preserved to conduct a criminal investigation, but afterward, the recovery period can be difficult and even traumatic for the people involved. A murder or suicide in someone’s own home, for example, is not a simple matter of the owners wiping things clean when there’s an emotional component.

Restoring Normalcy

Cleaning up a crime or trauma scene requires an extensive amount of work. Ideally, it should be done with the right tools and cleaning agents from people with experience to get the job done quickly. Trying to clean up a crime scene or any other scene of trauma by yourself can take much longer and may not yield the desired results of completely removing the stains and smell of blood or other viscera.

Perhaps more importantly, getting professionals to restore a trauma scene is safer and reduces the chance of infection from contagion. As expected, blood and other bodily fluids are excellent at preserving cells and bacteria, since they are designed to carry them throughout the body safely. Without proper precautions, cleaning up the scene where a COVID positive victim has passed away, for example, runs the risk of infecting people.

Do It Properly

If you have a scene of crime, whether theft, or bodily harm, or even death, have that site cleaned up the right way. Bring in seasoned professionals who will have the experience, efficiency, techniques, and tools to do the job quickly and get things back to normal. This is not a task property owners should attempt to do by themselves, especially if it will be too emotional.

Professionals have a much greater chance of successfully restoring a trauma scene area to the point where it looks—and smells—like nothing ever happened there. If you have a trauma scene you want safely cleaned up, we can help. Emergency Restoration Specialists has over 30 years of experience serving the Milwaukee area.
